Dr hab. Tomasz Jeż studied musicology at the Faculty of History of the University of Warsaw under the supervision of prof. dr hab. Mirosław Perz. He received a grant of Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (the German Academic Exchange Service) twice, for studies in Göttingen (1995/1996) and Berlin (2000/2001). After successful defence of his PhD dissertation (2002) he was offered a position of Assistant Professor at the Division of History of Polish Music at the Institute of Musicology, the University of Warsaw. In the academic years of 2002/2003 and 2007/2009 he was grant holder of Fundacja na rzecz Nauki Polskiej (the Foundation for Polish Science).
His scientific interests include reception of reperitoire in 16th and 17th century music sources. He is an author of several articles concerning heuristics and interpretation of music phenomena in the context of spirituality and aesthetics of the periods. At present, his main field of research is music culture of the old Silesia.
